Sony VAIO AR

petrostudio was approached by 2-Twelve Studio to create an 3D animated “trailer” for the flagship, Blu-Ray equipped VAIO AR. The result was a true multimedia production, involving several artists in modeling, lighting & animation and audio.

Mimicking an earlier video for the Sony Alpha camera, completed by another agency, the aim of the AR demo was to make the machine seem “larger than life”. Taking into consideration all the capabilities of the computer (multimedia player with Blu-Ray drive, 17-inch full-HD screen and coax for cable signal), the production focused on highlighting each feature through motion, sound and light. The print ad being run at the time, featuring figures and symbols rising from the Blu-Ray disc, was turned into motion at the end in an attempt to tie the different media together in a campaign.
