Along those “If this isn’t nice…” lines, I figured I should just start chronicling songs I run across that make me feel good. You know, the ones you keep playing again and again?
“Real World” by Matchbox 20.
I know it’s “rocky-pop”, but you can’t help but want to sing out loud.
EDIT (Addition): “Your Body is a Wonderland” by John Mayer
I can SO imagine this being about Ms. Hewitt. Mmmm, Jenn..i…fer…
So, I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve been passing along a tidbit of advice that I got from Vonnegut, and he got from his Uncle Alex. I feel like I need to put it down here, since I have been MIA for a while. This is what I have been thinking about a lot:
“If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.”
A song, a sunset, a friend, a conversation… anything and anywhere, there’s something nice. Even in the midst of all the crap that happens during the day.
So, there’s that.
OK. I know what you are thinking. The Apple iPhone is now $200 less, thanks to a price drop today. A whole buttload of people (including myself and the Burger) bought one either on the first day, or shortly thereafter. We had to have it, and now it’s cheaper, and we all have egg on our collective face.
And you’re wrong, bitches.
Well, I do wish that I had an extra $200 in my pocket (since selling my Dual G5… I really want a Mac Pro 8-core – here’s wishing that one of my 0 readers just sends me one out of love) but that’s more than 2 months that I would not have my wonderful iPhone. And as stupid as it sounds, even simple features like the Google Maps have really helped me out more than once. I mean, when you need to find a bar in your area, it’s really handy.
And now, we get 99 cent ringtones. Wait a tick, don’t the songs already costs 99 cents already? OK. So I have to buy a song, and then buy it again to make it into a ringtone? Well, Steve Jobs doesn’t seem to mind, as engadget’s Ryan Block reports, “The clip appears in the ringtones folder along with other clips of music Steve didn’t mind buying twice.”
Of course, there’s no mention of whether or not you can make ringtones for free from songs of your own. My guess? No way, Mary.
So now I’m tempted to hack my iPhone. I mean, I was tempted before, but I’m tempted more now. I’m just kinda a pansy, because I am afraid of voiding a warranty or something. It’s not about not breaking the rules – fuck the rules – I just worry about the day something goes wrong and Apple won’t cover it because I screwed with the phone.
Of course, if I need to buy a new iPhone some day, at least it will only cost $399. Fuck me.
EDIT: The Burger called me right after posting this and screamed, “Don’t do it!” He then told me about iToner. Crisis averted.
